Notification settings that actually work

Getting the roles right only matters if the notification reaches you. There is a video walkthrough in #user-guide, and these are the points that matter most.

The desktop rule that catches everyone

Discord will not send mobile notifications while Discord is open on your computer. It assumes you are already there.

If you leave Discord running on a desktop you are not sitting at, your phone will stay silent through every drop. Quit it, or rely on Moonitor instead.

Server and channel levels

Notification settings stack. A server set to "only @mentions" will suppress channel alerts even where the channel itself is set to "all messages". Check both.

Since our alerts ping the roles you chose, "only @mentions" is usually the right server setting: you get your sets and nothing else.

Mobile specifics

Check that Discord has notification permission at the operating system level, and that it is exempt from battery optimization. Aggressive battery saving on Android silently delays notifications, which looks exactly like a slow monitor.
