Choosing sets and stores without drowning
How to pick roles so your phone stays useful.
Every button you press is one more reason your phone buzzes. Some members want everything, most do not. Here is how to think about it.
Start narrow
Pick the two or three sets you actually want and the retailers you can realistically buy from. You can always add more.
Starting with everything selected is the fastest way to mute the server entirely within a week, which leaves you worse off than picking nothing.
Match stores to how you buy
If you never shop at a retailer, its alerts are pure noise. If you only buy in person, the online monitors matter less to you than the in-store tools.
If you buy across borders, take both regions. Roles are per region, so a Canadian buying US stock needs both.
Sealed hunters vs singles
If you are chasing sealed product at retail price, the set channels are the whole point. If you mostly buy singles, most of this will not be relevant, and #other-tcg or the general channels may suit you better.
Turning it down
Clicking a button again removes the role. You do not lose anything by removing a role and adding it back later.
If a set is dropping constantly and you have already got what you need, drop it for a while. Nobody is keeping score.
If you want everything
Select everything. There is no single all alerts button, deliberately: it would leave people with hundreds of pings a day and no idea which mattered.
