Impersonators and scam DMs
Staff never DM you first. How to check, and how to report.
Any server this size attracts people copying staff names and avatars to DM members. The defense is simple, and it is worth knowing before it happens to you.
Staff never DM you first
We do not open a DM to ask for payment, for your Whop login, for your card details, or to offer you stock privately. If you get that message, it is not us, no matter what the profile looks like.
Real support happens in a ticket in #create-ticket, where you opened it.
Checking a profile
Impersonators copy the display name and avatar, but not the account. Look at the profile: the username, the join date, and whether they actually hold a staff role in this server. A convincing name with no role is the usual pattern.
If you are unsure, ask in a ticket before replying to them. That costs you nothing.
Reporting one
Open a ticket with a screenshot and the person's profile. We remove impersonators on sight, and would rather act on a false alarm than leave one running.
Trades between members
Buying and selling with other members happens in #buy-sell-trade-vouches, under the rules in #marketplace-rules. Read those before you send anyone money.
Money you send another member is between you and them. We can remove someone from the community, and we do, but we cannot reverse a payment. If you have been scammed in a trade, contact your bank or payment provider, since that is the only route that can actually recover funds.
