Marketplace rules and trade disputes
How buying and selling works in the community, and what we can and cannot do when a trade goes wrong.
Members buy, sell and trade in #buy-sell-trade-vouches. Read #marketplace-rules before you post.
Protect yourself before you trade
- Use PayPal Goods and Services, never Friends and Family. Friends and Family has no buyer protection, which is exactly why scammers ask for it.
- Check the other person's vouches and how long they have been in the server.
- Keep the conversation and payment records. Screenshots of DMs matter later.
- Be careful with anyone brand new, in a rush, or pushing you off platform.
If a trade goes wrong
Open a ticket in #📩・create-ticket and choose Reports & Disputes. Include:
- who you traded with, username and user ID
- what was agreed, and what actually happened
- payment evidence and any relevant screenshots
What we can and cannot do
We can review the evidence, act on the member's standing in the server including removing them, and warn the community where there is a pattern.
We cannot recover your money, force a refund, or overturn a PayPal or bank decision. We are not a party to the trade and we have no access to anyone's payments.
If money has been taken, your real route is a PayPal dispute or your bank. Do that promptly, since those processes have deadlines. Report it to us as well so the member does not do the same to somebody else.
One honest note: disputes that happen entirely in DMs are hard for us to judge, because we can only see what you show us. That is not us doubting you, it is the limit of what we can verify. Evidence helps a lot.
